When I was little, I used to spend a couple of hours at my grandparents most days after school, til my mum came back from work.
My grand mother, Juliette, always had a "gouter" (afternoon snack) ready for me (and later, my sisters) when arriving from school. One of those is a roasted apple, served warm with home made raspberry jam spooned generously over it. It's just SO good!
Anyway, here's how to make it:
per person you need:
1 apple, WHOLE, peeled and cored with an apple corer
sugar (caster or dark demerara)
Raspberry jam (home made if you have, otherwise a good quality brand)- You could use redcurrant jelly
Pre-heat your oven to 190 degrees
roll your apple in sugar
Cook for 10 minutes or until the apple is cooked and golden
remove from the oven, leave to cool slightly.
Spoon a big dollop of jam on top and eat straight away....I think it's just like getting a big hug from someone you love!
It's a great recipe for kids as well since they can easily do it themselves (with an adult) and it's healthy too.
A bientot!
